Insurance
Beginning January 2011, if you have insurance that we are in network with, we will make a copy of your card, verify eligibility, and collect any co-pay that is due. You are responsible for your deductible, co-payment and co-insurance amounts. If your insurance denies payment of a claim, you are responsible for the billed charges.
Once we receive word from your insurance company, we will send you a statement if there is a balance that we are entitled to collect. We strongly advise you to contact your insurance company to discuss your benefit coverage for acupuncture services. Insurance coverage for acupuncture care varies greatly, and may not cover all procedures or conditions. If you still have questions, feel free to contact our office and we will do our best to assist you.
If you have insurance coverage where we are not an in-network provider you can contact your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you for visiting an out-of-network provider. You will be responsible for providing payment at the time of service and we can assist you with seeking reimbursement from the insurance company.
Please be aware that some insurance companies require pre-certification for acupuncture care. Care will commence once approval has been obtained. Some insurance companies may also require a referral from your primary care physician.
Desert Sands is pleased to offer EVERYONE a payment-at-time-of-service discount. A Time of Service Discount is a discount off of our standard fee schedule. This discount is available to any and all patients making payment at the time of service. Payment can be made via check or cash. There are many administrative costs and extra tasks that must be completed when processing insurance claims. A patient paying at the time of service greatly lessens this workload which allows us to pass a savings on to both the patient and their insurance company for those patients who submit their own claims to the insurance company for reimbursement. Please see the chart above for examples of our standard fee and time of service discount fee on some of our most common service.
Most conditions require an average of 6-12 treatments, although some will respond well within 4-6 visits and others may require a longer series – this depends on the severity and chronic nature of the chief complaint.
A financial hardship waiver is available upon request for annual income of less than $25,000 for a single person, $50,000 for a couple, or $70,000 for a family with children. Qualifying for the hardship waiver requires documentation of income from either pay stubs or previous year’s tax return. The waiver is 30% off the usual and customary billed charges.
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. In the event of a missed appointment or an appointment cancelled with less than 24 hours notice you may be charged a $25 fee. Insurance will not pay for a missed appointment.
First visit- please allow 2 hours to include paperwork. Wear loose comfortable clothing and eat a light meal 1-2 hours before your session.
